Retail inMotion/Media inMotion Officially Part of the LSG Group
Neu-Isenburg, Germany/Dublin, Ireland – LSG Sky Chefs, the world’s largest provider of quality inflight catering, today announced the ratification of the acquisition of the remaining shares in Retail inMotion, as well as the full ownership of Media inMotion. The Irish antitrust authorities approved the deal effective February 1, 2016.
Retail inMotion focuses on the increasingly important onboard retail business, which drives airlines’ ancillary revenues and reduces inflight costs. Its expertise encompasses the procurement and distribution of Buy-on-Board products, complete management of Buy-on-Board programs and end-to-end IT support of those programs through proprietary software.
Media inMotion’s portfolio includes hardware and software solutions for Inflight Retailment Systems, which offer much more variety and choice than traditional Inflight Entertainment Systems. These systems also integrate onboard shopping capabilities, thus providing an additional sales channel to passengers, as well as broadening the range of products and services offered for sale onboard.
“Retail inMotion is now officially part of the LSG Group and I am very happy and proud of this,” said Erdmann Rauer, CEO of LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG, the parent company of LSG Sky Chefs. “It is a win-win situation for everybody involved, as our core competencies perfectly complement one another. Our joint skillset allows us to respond to and actively address consumer and customer needs in this increasingly important market segment better than ever.”
Retail inMotion is an industry leading in-flight retail specialist and product, service and technology provider to the new breed of cost-conscious and profit-driven airlines and train operators. With a proven track record with some of the world’s largest and most demanding airlines, the company has developed a market-leading proprietary Technology Platform (Vector In-Flight) to maximize retail revenues and reduce operating expenses.
