LSG Sky Chefs Wins 2013 IFSA Chef’s Competition

Anaheim, CA / Neu-Isenburg, Germany – LSG Sky Chefs, the world’s largest provider of quality in-flight catering, today announced that Daniel Klein, a chef in the Company’s North America research and development division, won the 2013 International Flight Services Association (IFSA) Chefs’ Competition during an Iron Chef style event held Tuesday in Anaheim, California.

Klein, a native of Alsace, France, is the third LSG Sky Chefs’ chef to take the top prize since the event’s inception in 2008. At this year’s competition, four talented chefs from across the airline industry were challenged to prepare, cook and plate a tasty meal in 30 minutes using just five key ingredients. Chef Daniel emerged victorious by preparing an elaborate dish consisting of Arctic Char confit with kaffir leaves, quinoa salad and Greek yogurt dill sauce paired with a seared loin of lamb with rosemary jus, sautéed mushrooms and vegetable stew.

“Culinary Excellence is at the heart of our business, and this achievement is further proof of the extraordinary talent and innovation that is behind each and every meal we develop for our customers,” stated Dennis Sadlowski, Regional Chief Operating Officer at LSG Sky Chefs North America. “Please join me in congratulating Chef Daniel on winning this prestigious award.”
