LSG Sky Chefs Opens new Tampa Facility
Neu-Isenburg, Germany – LSG Sky Chefs opened its newest state-of-the-art Customer Service Center (CSC) in Tampa, Florida, USA, after completing the transition from its old airline-catering facility.
Built in tandem with the expansion of the Tampa International Airport (TPA), the new unit is better equipped to deal with the growth being experienced in this market. The CSC covers an area of approximately 30,000 square feet (about 27,000 square meters) from where some 50 employees will handle an average of 50 flights per day. Features include refrigerated production rooms and the Enviropure eco-friendly waste-disposal system, which provides the rapid breakdown and removal of food waste on-site.
The company’s customers in Tampa include American Airlines, United Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Edelweiss Air, Cayman Airways, Sun Country Airlines, Copa Airlines and Alaska Airlines.
The Tampa International Airport expansion plan outlines three phases to eventually accommodate 35 million passengers a year. That is more than double its current number. The plan allows for a “build as demand dictates” approach to growth, with phases based on passenger volume. The construction of LSG Sky Chefs’ new facility was spurred by the plan.
