LSG Sky Chefs Expands Business with Azul

Neu-Isenburg, Germany/Sao Paulo, Brazil – LSG Sky Chefs, the world’s largest provider of in-flight services, announced today that they have significantly expanded their business with Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (Azul), in line with the internationalization and rapid growth of this carrier. LSG Sky Chefs has been providing Azul with traditional catering services at all its Brazilian locations since last year.

Now the airline has chosen LSG Sky Chefs to cater their first scheduled international flights from Sao Paulo Viracopos International Airport (VCP) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Orlando (MCO), Florida, USA. Deliveries will come from LSG Sky Chefs’ Sao Paulo-Guarulhos Airport customer service center until they can set up a small facility at VCP.

Additionally, SPIRIANT, LSG Sky Chefs’ equipment company, has been selected to support the introduction of the new meal service with onboard equipment and will be part of the development of the final equipment selection and tender.

Azul was founded in 2008 by David Neeleman (who also founded JetBlue) and has since become the third-largest Brazilian airline. In just five years, the carrier has gone from flying 2 million passengers a year to more than 20 million. Not surprisingly, Azul is one of the fastest-growing airlines worldwide. It currently has a fleet of 142 planes.
