LSG Sky Chefs and SunExpress extend partnership
Neu-Isenburg, Germany — LSG Sky Chefs, the world’s largest provider of in-flight services, has been awarded a contract extension by SunExpress, one of the largest scheduled and charter carriers between Europe and Turkey. The new agreement, which was signed as part of the carrier’s 20th anniversary celebrations, is valid for five years.
LSG Sky Chefs has been providing services for SunExpress, a joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, since the first flight of SunExpress in 1990. The carrier offers Buy-on-Board services on domestic flights from Istanbul (SAW), Antalya and Izmir to 17 destinations in Turkey, while hot or cold meals will be provided on all international flights from Turkey to more than 70 destinations in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Scandinavia, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and other countries. With the inclusion of return catering, this adds up to more than 50,000 flights per year that are catered by LSG Sky Chefs, and makes SunExpress the in-flight provider’s largest customer in Turkey.
“Thanks to our in-flight service partner LSG Sky Chefs we are able to offer an excellent product at affordable cost,” Paul Schwaiger said on behalf of SunExpress. “We are proud to be a partner of LSG Sky Chefs since our first flight 20 years ago and I am grateful to Walter Gehl and his team in Turkey and Germany for their excellent support.”
“I would like to extend my congratulations to Mr. Temel Kotil, Chairman of the Board of SunExpress, Mr. Paul Schwaiger, the airline’s Managing Director, and all employees of SunExpress on the occasion of their special anniversary,” said Walter Gehl, CEO of LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG, after the signing. “LSG Sky Chefs is proud of this successful collaboration and we confidently look forward to the future of our valuable partnership.”
