LSG Sky Chefs and Retail inMotion Win SunExpress Contract

Neu-Isenburg, Germany/Dublin, Ireland – LSG Sky Chefs has won a five year onboard retail (Buy-on-Board) contract with SunExpress through its group company Retail inMotion (RiM). The deal includes the entire SunExpress network and will commence on July 1, 2014.

The new contract comes in the wake of the carrier’s decision to give passengers the personal choice of differentiated service-levels during their flights. SunExpress will offer bespoke pre-ordered packages tailored to individual needs, combined with a rich Buy-on-Board product for scheduled passengers.

LSG Sky Chefs became a shareholder in RiM in February 2013, in order to offer existing and new airline customers access to fully outsourced retail management solutions by combining the strengths of the world’s largest in-flight services provider with the innovative power of an in-flight retail IT technology leader. Since then, the partners have successfully implemented their solutions for two international carriers.

“Our decision to choose LSG Sky Chefs and RiM is based on their advanced technology solution and retail expertise as proven with similar business models at other carriers,” said Paul Schwaiger, SunExpress’ Managing Director. “We look forward to the introduction of this new concept, which will enhance the passenger experience by offering a wider variety of products while allowing for sustainably competitive cost structures through highly efficient catering management.”
