LSG Group Opens New Facility in Santiago de Chile

Neu-Isenburg, Germany / Santiago, Chile – The LSG Group officially opened its newly built facility in Santiago, Chile (SCL), during a ceremony yesterday. The customer service center replaces the original one that was in operation for almost 50 years, which dated back to the company’s entry in this market in 1968.

The decision to build a new facility was based on two main factors, namely the need to expand in response to the growth in demand from both airline and newly acquired convenience retail customers and having to make room to accommodate the airport’s expansion.

The 9,000 square-meter building has a 6,500 square-meter production area where around 580 employees can produce up to 60,000 meals for airline and retail customers per day. Major customers include LATAM Airlines Group, Sky Airlines, American Airlines, Air France and Starbucks Chile/Alsea.

The unit’s layout and internal process flow were designed based on global best practices. It is also equipped with state-of-the-art technology and includes a test kitchen geared toward driving innovation and new developments.

“This new facility is great evidence of LSG’s long experience, entrepreneurship and broad expertise in food preparation and logistics,” LSG Group’s CEO Erdmann Rauer said in his opening remarks. “We have built a strong footprint in Chile over the past 50 years, which now culminates with this modern plant catering to the needs of airline and retail customers alike.”
