Germanwings Extends Contract with LSG Sky Chefs

Neu-Isenburg, Germany – LSG Sky Chefs, the world’s largest provider of in-flight services, has been awarded a contract extension with Germanwings through 2013. LSG Sky Chefs has provided Germanwings with Buy-on-Board services in various locations throughout Germany since 2002.

This comprehensive Germanwings Buy-on-Board contract means that LSG Sky Chefs has been granted considerable responsibility over the service: While the airline provides the point-of-purchase (the aircraft) and the sales force (the cabin crew), LSG Sky Chefs will take care of the selection and procurement of products (food, beverages and trade goods), marketing, technology and administration. “Last year, we launched the sales of vouchers to passengers during the flight booking process. This was very well received and has had a positive impact on the sale of the catering articles onboard,” said Stefan Hubert, VP Sales and Services in the Germany region. “As a result, Germanwings intends to extend this and other onboard initiatives, such as the “Caviar and Champagne” promotion that we worked on together last Christmas.”
